Track and Field Announces 2024 Schedule

Indoor and Outdoor season will consist of 16 meets, including two at USF

Tampa, Fla. – The South Florida track and field team has announced its 2024 indoor and outdoor schedule. The indoor season will consist of attendance at six different meets, taking place over four different weekends before the Conference and NCAA Championships. The outdoor season will consist of 10 different meets, taking place over nine different weekends before the Conference and NCAA Championships.

USF's outdoor schedule is highlighted by the program's two home meets. First South Florida will host 17 different teams at the USF Alumni Invitational on March 15-16, 2024. The slate will include Appalachian State University, Ball State University, Bethune Cookman University, Florida Atlantic University, Grand Valley State University, Iowa State University, Ohio State University, Purdue University, St. John's University, Southern Illinois University (Carbondale), Temple University, West Virginia University, University of Kentucky, University of Michigan, University of Oklahoma, University of Pittsburgh, and Vanderbilt University. The Bulls will honor their seniors on day two of this meet (Mar. 16, 2024) and will honor alumni throughout both meet days. Then the following month on April 5-6, 2024, USF will host the South Florida Invitational, with 21 teams having been invited and 16 having confirmed their attendance including Bethune Cookman University, Boston University, Florida Atlantic University, Georgia State University, Jacksonville University, Keiser University, Mercer University, Morgan State University, Rutgers University, South Carolina State University, Southeastern University, St. Thomas University, Towson University, Troy University, University of Connecticut, and Virginia Commonwealth University.

Indoor season will see the Bulls open North on I-75 in Gainesville, Fla. for the Jimmy Carnes Invitational on Jan. 12, 2024. Two weeks later the teams will travel to Louisville, Ky. for the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational on Jan. 26-27. The Bulls will then split up with Sprint and Jump athletes attending the Harvard Crimson Elite in Cambridge, Mass. on Feb. 2, 2024, and the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational in Boston, Mass. the next day. The Distance and Field Event athletes will travel back up I-75 to Gainesville, Fla. for the Celebration Pointe Indoor Classic on Feb. 2-3, 2024. The teams will reconvene the next weekend in Chicago, Ill. for the Windy City Invitational on Feb. 9-10, 2024. American Athletic Conference Indoor Championships are scheduled for Feb 23-24, 2024 in Birmingham, Ala., while NCAA Indoor Championships are set for Mar. 8-9, 2024 back up in Boston, Mass.

The Bulls will be staying close to home to begin the outdoor campaign, with their first three meets being located here in Tampa, Fla. Their opening meet will be at the University of Tampa for the Tampa Classic on Feb. 17, 2024. They will again compete at UT for the Tampa Distance Classic on Mar. 2, 2024, before hosting the USF Alumni Invitational at home on Mar. 15-16, 2024. The team will first leave the state for the outdoor season on Mar. 22-23, 2024, when they travel to Raleigh, N.C. for the Raleigh Relays. Then the team is back in Florida until April, traveling to Gainesville, Fla. for the Florida Relays Mar. 29-30, 2024, hosting the South Florida Invitational April 5-6, 2024, and returning to Gainesville, Fla. April 12-13, 2024 for the Tom Jones Memorial. On April 18-20, 2024 the team will swap coasts and compete in Walnut, Calif. for the Mt. SAC Relays. The regular season will close with the teams splitting again, with Sprint athletes heading to Philadelphia, Penn. for the Penn Relays April 25-27, 2024, while Distance, Field Event, and other Sprint athletes heading to the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla., Outdoor Conference Championships will be in San Antonio, Texas May 8-11, 2024. The Outdoor NCAA East Preliminary Round will be in Lexington, Ky. May 22-25, 2024 and the Championships will be hosted in Eugene, Ore. on June 5-8, 2024.

About USF Track and Field

The USF track and field team has earned 56 All-America selections and at least one All-American in 10 of the last 12 years, including a record eight athletes claiming 11 honors in 2021. Romaine Beckford won the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championship in the men's high jump. Tampa native Shaniya Benjamin set a program record, earning three All-American honors during the 2021 outdoor season, while triple jumper Matthew O'Neal, a 2016 graduate, became USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. Bulls have posted two NCAA runner-up finishes since 2013 - O'Neal (triple jump, 2016) and Courtney Anderson (high jump, 2013). Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2020 and in the 2021 outdoor season, the Bulls posted seven program records and 40 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium located on the east end of campus.
