Tampa, Fla., March 18, 2023 – The University of South Florida track and field team wrapped up a successful day two at the USF Bulls Invitational.
 
Loren Johnson started the day off for the Bulls in the triple jump with a fourth-place finish with a mark of 12.00 meters (39-4.5). Annia Ashley also claimed fourth place in the high jump after posting 1.70m (5-7).
 
In the 4x100 relay, USFs' team of Je'Nyia Burton, Shaniya Benjamin, Jadaja Baxter and Hannah Connell took third with a time of 45.64 seconds. Meanwhile, in the men's event, Zayquan Lincoln, Shevioe Reid, Monte Parker, and Danelson Mahautiere also claimed third place and moved into third all-time in program history with 40.56 seconds.
 
Chakiya Plummer claimed the Bulls' first gold of the day in the women's 100-meter hurdles, winning in 13.58. Michael Bourne III finished third in the men's competition in 14.03 seconds.
 
Kayla Hugg finished in fifth place in the women's 400m dash with a mark of 55.89 seconds, less than a second away from entering the All-Time Top 10 list. Elijah Wright claimed the Bulls' fifth podium finish of the day after placing third in the men's event with a time of 47.61 seconds. Zayquan Lincoln ran a time of 10.30 seconds to finish fourth in the men's 100m dash competition. 
 
The Bulls will travel to Gainesville on March 31 and April 1 for the Florida Relays.
 
 
About USF Track and Field
The USF track and field team has earned 56 All-America selections and at least one All-American in 10 of the last 12 years, including a record eight athletes claiming 11 honors in 2021. Romaine Beckford won the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championship in the men's high jump. Tampa native Shaniya Benjamin set a program record earning three All-American honors during the 2021 outdoor season, while triple jumper Matthew O'Neal, a 2016 graduate, became USF's first six-time NCAA All-American. Bulls have posted two NCAA runner-up finishes since 2013 - O'Neal (triple jump, 2016) and Courtney Anderson (high jump, 2013). Head coach Erik Jenkins took over the program in 2020 and in the 2021 outdoor season the Bulls posted seven program records and 40 top 10 all-time program marks. USF hosted the 2018 NCAA Track and Field East Preliminary and the 2021 AAC Outdoor Championship at the USF Track and Field Stadium located on the east end of campus.
