TAMPA, Fla. (Mar. 19, 2023) –  The USF Bulls won their third-consecutive match after a 4-3 win on Sunday afternoon in Tampa against the University of Alabama at Birmingham Blazers.

In doubles, Davide Tortora and Bruno Oliveira were unsuccessful on court one but Alvin Tudorica and Erik Grevelius battled through on their court to even the playing field.

The fate of the doubles' point came down to Thomas Pavlekovich-Smith and Tom Pisane on court three. Tied 6-6, they got three straight points before UAB would show resistance. With some encouragement from the crowd and a bit of poise, they were able follow through and top their opponents, 7-6 (7-4).

Entering singles with the advantage - for the third straight match - the Green and Gold needed three more courts to clinch.

Oliveira on court four claimed his court 6-1, 6-2 to push the squad closer to another victory. Soon after, the Blazers added points of their own with wins on courts three and six.

Dropping his first set 4-6, Elijah Cham on court five recovered to win his next two in a dominating fashion. Cham would give South Florida its third point by winning his remaining sets 6-2, 6-1.

With the side courts completed, it was the center courts that would determine the day's outcome. No. 106 Tortora won his first set with ease, 6-2 on court one. However, his opponent Michal Lusovsky moved differently in the second.

Things would get tight in the tiebreaker, but Tortora was able to find his way through to claim his second set 7-6 (9-7).

With the win against UAB, the Bulls are now 9-9 on the season, snapped the Blazers' four-game win streak, and have won five out of their last six.
