TAMPA (April 3, 2023) – The No. 54-ranked University of South Florida men's tennis team had its impressive six-match winning streak snapped on Monday afternoon with a 4-1 loss to No. 43 Tulane at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts. The loss drops the Bulls to 12-10 on the year while the Green Wave improves to 13-8.

South Florida had won eight of its last nine matches, coming into Monday, with its last loss on March 6 to No. 49 Texas A&M, 7-0, in College Station.

The Bulls found themselves in a battle with the Green Wave during the doubles portion of the dual.

South Florida took an early lead with a win on court two as Erik Grevelius and Alvin Tudorica defeated their Tulane handily, 6-3. The Green Wave, however, leveled doubles at one match apiece with a 6-2 victory on court three, leaving the deciding point to court one and the Green and Gold's Bruno Oliveira and Davide Tortora.

The Bulls' duo went up in the match, 4-3, however, Tulane won three of the next five points to send the contest to a tiebreaker. The Green Wave came back once again in the breaker to earn the doubles point with a 7-6 (7-4) win.

Tulane took the lead in the dual with the first win in singles, taking court four, 6-3, 6-4.

South Florida's Thomas Pavlekovich-Smith got the Bulls on the board with a straight-forward 6-3, 6-4 win on court six but that was all that they could get during the afternoon, despite two of the four deciding singles matches going to a second set tiebreaker.

Alvin Tudorica fell on court three, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) and Erik Grevelius lost on court four in a hard-fought contest, 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).

Elijah Cham led on court five, 2-6, 6-3, 2-1, and Davide Tortora was in a dogfight on court one 6-3, 5-7, 1-1 in matches that did not finish due to the Green Wave clinching the dual.
