USF Men’s Golf Earns GCAA Presidents Special Recognition for Academic Excellence

Chase Gullikson, Shubham Jaglan and Jake Peacock were also named GCAA All-American Scholars.

TAMPA, FLA., August 11, 2023 – The University of South Florida Men's Golf team has received President's Special Recognition from the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) for having a team GPA of 3.5+. In addition, Chase Gullikson, Shubham Jaglan and Jake Peacock have earned 2022-23 GCAA All-America Scholar honors.

To be eligible for GCAA All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.

Gullikson, who was also a member of the 2023 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team as selected by College Sports Communicators, competed in 11 tournaments in his second season at USF. He posted one top-25 finish. Gullickson notched his first collegiate tournament win with an 11-under par 205 at the Veterans Intercollegiate in 2022, his first season as a Bull.

Jaglan was named to the AAC Men's Golf All-Conference team in addition to earning Academic All-District honors. He had his best season at USF with a scoring average of 71.94 and led the team with nine rounds in the 60's. Jaglan posted two top-10 finishes, was second on the team with 15 rounds of par or better and was tied for the team lead with seven top-25 finishes.

Peacock, who transferred to USF in June 2022, also earned AAC Men's Golf All-Conference as well as Academic All-District honors. He led the team with a 71.66 scoring average in his first season as a Bull. Peacock led the Bulls to a win in the Ross Collegiate Classic, earning AAC Player of the Week along the way. He finished third in the tournament, recording all three rounds under par. On the season, he had three top-10 finishes and led the team with 18 rounds at par or better. He tied with Jaglan for the team lead with seven finishes in the Top 25 and was second to Jaglan with eight rounds in the 60's.

The Bulls are led by head coach Steve Bradley, the five-time AAC Coach of the Year, who is entering his 10th season at South Florida in 2023-24. USF Men's Golf has won five American Conference Championships and has appeared in the NCAA Regionals in 10 of the last 11 seasons.

The USF men's golf program has captured 17 conference titles and has seen players earn 19 All-America honors. The Bulls have won five American Athletic Conference Tournament championships in wire-to-wire fashion, winning four-consecutive from 2015-18. The Bulls have had four individual conference champions, including Albin Bergstrom in 2021, and gone on to earn nine straight NCAA Regional appearances, including a 6th place finish in NCAA Championship match-play in 2015. USF is led by Steve Bradley, who has been named American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year five times since taking over the program in 2014. The Bulls have posted 21 tournament wins under Bradley entering the 2023-24 season, by far the most under any coach in program history.
