Anderson’s Brace Leads Bulls Past Elon

TAMPA (September 17, 2023) – South Florida men's soccer (2-4) topped Elon (1-3-2) and successfully defended Corbett Stadium on Sunday night.
 
30 minutes into match play, Elon managed to get on the board first. Then midway through the second frame, the Bulls hit their stride. In the 74th minute, Jalen Anderson netted the equalizer. Just seven minutes later, Anderson struck again to put USF up 2-1. Ajmeer Spengler had a foot on both assists for South Florida.
  COACH BUTEHORN SAID
"It was a tough game," said head coach Bob Butehorn. "They caught us on an early one and we entered scramble mode. I'm just glad the guys dug in and found a way to get some goals and get the job done."

  • The Bulls won the first-ever meeting against Elon.

USF Men's Soccer competed in the school's first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3. Since then, the oldest program on campus has built a winning tradition, claiming 14 conference championships and making 22 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 3 trips to the elite eight.
