TAMPA, September 20, 2023 – After opening the 2023 conference slate with a win over Tulane on Wednesday, the University of South Florida volleyball team (7-6, 1-0 AAC) will travel to Memphis, Tenn. for two matches against the Memphis Tigers (4-9, 0-1 AAC) on Saturday and Sunday in the Larry O. Finch Center.
The Bulls welcomed the Tulane Green Wave for the conference opener on Wednesday.
Maria Clara Andrade (Sao Paulo, Brazil) led the match with 22 kills, one shy from tying her career-high set last season against Ball State.
Buse Hazan (Istanbul, Turkey) set a new career high with four service aces.
Caroline Dykes (Flower Mound, Texas) was also one assist shy of matching her career-high of 56.
In the last two matches, South Florida has finished with 28 service aces. That is the most in a two-match span since October 12th & 14th, 2007 when the Bulls served 30 aces in two matches. The Bulls finished with 20 against West Virginia on Oct. 12 and 10 against Pitt on Oct. 14.
The American Athletic Conference volleyball season kicked off with the East taking on the West. South Florida was the only team in the east to win. They now stand alone at the top of the AAC East standings.

- Memphis is coming off a 3-0 loss at SMU. Rylee Busse served the Tiger's only ace of the match.
- Catalina Martinez led the Tigers in digs. She finished the match with 10.

Head coach Jolene Shepardson enters her fourth season at the helm of her alma mater in 2023. Named head coach on Jan. 8, 2020, Shepardson led the Bulls' program to its last conference championship and NCAA tournament appearance as a student-athlete in 2002. USF made its last postseason appearance in 2018, posting 20 wins and appearing in the NIVC. USF Volleyball has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances and won 12 conference titles since its inception in 1972. The Bulls play in The Corral (1,000), adjacent to the Yuengling Center on the USF campus.
