Bulls fall to No. 4 Georgia, Arizona

USF Women’s Tennis competed at the ITA Kickoff Weekend on January 26-27.

Tampa, Fla. (January 27, 2024) – The University of South Florida women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches at the ITA Kickoff Weekend on January 26-27. The Bulls fell to host and No. 4-nationally ranked Georgia to begin competition before taking on Arizona in the consolation round.

USF suffered 4-0 setbacks in both matches with play against Arizona being shifted to a different location due to weather and consisting of only singles matches.

No. 4 Georgia

South Florida went up against a pair of ranked doubles teams and five ranked singles opponents against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Doubles 1: No. 58 Dasha Vidmonova/Aysegul Mert defeated Grace Schumacher/Nadja Bay Christians, 6-0
Doubles 2: No. 15 Guillermina Grant/Mai Nirundorn defeated Rhea Makesar/Ireland Simme, 6-0.
Singles 5: Grant defeated Gargi Pawar, 6-0, 6-0
Singles 4: No. 70 Anastasiia Lopata defeated Marta Falceto Font, 6-1, 6-2
Singles 6: No. 108 Nirundorn defeated Makesar, 6-0, 6-0

Arizona
Singles 6: Tanvi Narendran defeated Makesar, 6-1, 6-0
Singles 4: Midori Castillo-Meza defeated Kelly Vargas, 6-1, 6-0
Singles 5: Brandelyn Fulgenzi defeated Falceto Font, 6-1, 6-3
Singles 1: Reece Carter defeated Schumacher, 6-2, 6-3
