TAMPA, Fla., October 24, 2024 – The University of South Florida volleyball team (11-8, 7-1 AAC) heads to Texas for a pair of conference road matches in Denton and San Antonio this Friday and Sunday.
 
The Bulls will go against the North Texas Mean Green (8-11, 5-3 AAC) on Friday at 7 p.m. South Florida and the UTSA Roadrunners (7-14, 1-7 AAC) will play on Sunday at 2 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
South Florida dropped its first conference match to the Florida Atlantic Owls on Sunday. Maria Clara Andrade surpassed the 1,000-kill mark in the second set on Sunday. It's the third milestone a Bull has hit this season.
 
The Bulls still hold the top spot in the American Athletic Conference, one game ahead of preseason favorites, Rice.
 
DOUBLE-DIGIT STREAK
Maria Clara Andrade is currently on a 13-match double-digit kill streak. In three of the last twelve matches, Andrade has recorded 20+ kills. Her 24 kills against Tulsa were four away from tying her career-high of 28.
 
Naiya Sawtelle is now on a six-match double-digit kill streak. She started her streak at Temple with 15 kills. At Wichita State, she set a season-high of 20.
 
Lia Schneider has a double-digit dig streak of five matches. She has registered 20 digs in the last three matches.
 
RANKED FORCES
Nationally, South Florida is ranked in the top 50 in assists per set and kills per set. The Bulls' 12.97 assists per set is 14th nationally and first in the conference. The Bulls are averaging 13.77 kills per set which ranks 22nd in the country and first in the conference.
 
Caroline Dykes is averaging 10.90 assists per set which ranks ninth nationally. Her 763 total assists rank 16th.
 
Maria Clara Andrade is second in the conference in total kills with 301. She is 27th nationally. She averages 4.30 kills per set, which puts her 27th in the nation and first in the conference. Andrade ranks 6^th in the nation in most effective back row attackers.

• UTSA is coming off a three-set loss against Tulsa on Sunday. They welcome Temple on Friday night before taking on the Bulls.
• Mia Soerensen leads the Roadrunners with 207 kills on the season. She is the only Roadrunner with 200+ kills.
• Aliah Giroux is averaging 4.23 digs per set, with a total of 281 this season.

Head coach Jolene Shepardson enters her fifth season at the helm of her alma mater in 2024. Named head coach on Jan. 8, 2020, Shepardson led the Bulls' program to its last conference championship and NCAA tournament appearance as a student-athlete in 2002. Earning the AAC East Division title in 2023, South Florida made a postseason appearance in the NIVC, winning three games and advancing to the Fab Four to mark the longest postseason run in program history.
