USF Hits the Road for Contest with UTSA

TAMPA, Fla. (February 20, 2024) – The University of South Florida men's basketball team travels back to Texas for an American Athletic Confer matchup with UTSA on Wednesday. The Bulls (19-5, 12-1 AAC) and the Roadrunners (8-18, 2-11 AAC) are slated for an 8 p.m. ET tip on ESPN+.
 
The Bulls extended their winning streak to 11 conference games, extending the longest streak in program history for conference games. The 12 wins in conference play ties the most in program history behind the 12 wins in the Big East in 2011-12. The 11-game winning streak is the second-longest winning streak in program history, trailing only the 12-game streak set during the 1980-81 season. The Bulls defeated two ranked opponents in the season for the fifth time in program history. It is the first since the 2011-12 season when USF knocked off Seton Hall (23) and Louisville (19).
 
'Sel'ing Point
Earlier this week, Selton Miguel was named the AAC Player of the Week. For the week, he led the Bulls with 17.5 points and helped South Florida to a 2-0 record. For the week, he shot 1.000 percent, 2-for-2, from the free-throw line, 63.6 percent, 5-for-8, from 3-point range, and 56.5 percent, 13-for-23, from the field. In the win against No. 24 FAU, he led all scorers with a career-high 25 points. It was his 20th game in double figures and his fourth with over 20 points. He added four rebounds, one assist, and one steal. In the win against Tulsa, he posted a double-digit performance with 10 points. He added three rebounds and three assists. For the season, he is tied for 177th in the country with 2.21 3-pointers per game, which is tied for sixth in the conference. He is second on the team with 14.8 points per contest. He is fourth on the squad with 3.3 boards per game. He is third on the squad with 25 steals and is second on the team with 55 assists. He has added seven blocks.
 
CY in the YC
Chris Youngblood paces the team with 15.0 points per game. He is averaging 2.5 rebounds per game to go along with 49 assists, 14 blocks, and 13 steals. He is shooting 84.0 percent from the free-throw line, which is tied for 114th in the country and is third in the AAC. He is tied for a team-best 18 blocks. He is tied for the team lead with 27 steals. He has added 37 assists. He is shooting 83.0 percent from the free-throw line, which is tied for 136th in the country and sixth in the conference.

Jayden Reid leads the team with 84 assists. He is tied for 218th in the NCAA with 3.5 assists per game and is tied for 11th in the AAC. The South Florida men's basketball team is led by Amir Abdur-Rahim, who was named the 11th head coach in program history on March 29, 2023.
