TAMPA (March 21, 2024) – The USF women's sailing team will travel to Boston to compete in the Duplin Women's Team Race this weekend, March 23-24.
After spring break and a well-deserved weekend off, the starters are rested and ready for competition once again. The Duplin Women's Team Race is an important event as it will be held on the Charles River in Boston this year. This is the same venue as the National Championships in May, and experience sailing on this legendarily shifty river is crucial.
Sailing for USF will be seniors Emma Shakespeare and Hannah Marsicano, juniors Kay Brunsvold, Kalea Woodard, Heidi Hicks and Janie Powell, and freshman Kailey Warrior.
Eleven teams will be competing. USF will be against several top-ten ranked schools, Yale, Harvard, Boston College, MIT, and Brown, as well as always tough Tufts, Tulane, University of Rhode Island, Roger Williams, and Bowdoin. Another factor will be the daunting adverse weather forecast; rain all day Saturday, possibly changing to snow overnight, high temperatures in the low 40's, and breezy conditions.
The Bulls look forward to building on the strong performance from last weekend.
