TAMPA (March 8, 2024) – The University of South Florida Bulls open a seven-game homestand with a three-game weekend series against the North Carolina A&T Aggies beginning on Friday, March 8 at 6:30 p.m.
Prior to the National Anthem on Friday, there will be a moment of silence in honor of former Bull Dexter Butler (2005-08), who tragically passed away last week.
Saturday's game is the Bulls' annual Salute to Service Game which will feature a color guard, military vehicles on display, and more! The first 500 fans will receive a Patriotic Bull U hat.
The Bulls are returning home from a six-game road stretch that included stops in Tallahassee, Orlando and Jacksonville and had the team on the road for eight of nine days from February 27-March 6. South Florida went 3-3 over that stretch, most recently winning two straight while in Jacksonville over UNF and the Jacksonville Dolphins.
The USF offense put up 33 combined runs over its last two games in Jacksonville, including a 12-run outburst in the eighth inning to run-rule UNF, 17-5, and a 16-12 slugfest against the Dolphins. Bobby Boser hit two homers at UNF (first estimated at 470 ft.) and hit for the cycle at Jacksonville, going a combined 6-for-10 with a double, triple, three homers and 13 RBI over the two-game trip. Boser became the first Bull in at least 20 years to hit for the cycle.
The Bulls have scored 10 or more runs in six of their 12 games this season. USF has also racked up 29 stolen bases to date, already nearing last year's season total of 39.
Drew Brutcher enters the weekend leading the NCAA in walks (19). Boser leads the AAC in homers (5) and RBI (21). The Bulls have turned 14 doubles play on defense this year which rank seventh in the NCAA.
Following the weekend series, USF will host Maine on Wednesday, March 13 at 6 p.m. and a three-game set with UNC Greensboro on March 15-17.
The Bulls' starting rotation against North Carolina A&T is the same trio that took the mound last weekend at UCF. As a whole, the pitching staff posted a 2.77 ERA over three games in Orlando.
