GAINESVILLE (May 7, 2024) – The University of South Florida Bulls (23-25) dropped their final road midweek game of the season on Tuesday, 4-1, to the University of Florida Gators (25-23) at Condron Family Ballpark.
Bobby Boser (Wesley Chapel) hit his third home run in his last four games which stood as South Florida's lone tally of the night. Boser is tied for eighth all-time in USF program history with 29 career homers.
Jac Caglianone got the scoring started for the Gators with his 27th home run of the season in the bottom of the first inning. Florida plated single runs in the second and third frames to build a 3-0 lead where the score remained until Boser's home run in the top of the sixth inning.
Logan Bevis (Longwood) and Corey Kling (Delray Beach) each tossed a pair of scoreless innings in relief of starter Lawson Gailey (Lavonia, Ga.). Bevis struck out three batters while Kling recorded two strikeouts without allowing a hit. Gailey was charged with three runs (two earned) over 3.0 IP in his start.
The USF pitching staff didn't issue a single walk to the Florida Gators in the game.
The Bulls' best scoring chance of the night came in the opening frame when they put two on with no outs and eventually loaded the bases with one out, but failed to score and the Gators took advantage with a lead in the bottom of the first inning before stretching it to a 3-0 lead after three innings.
