IRVING, Texas (July 11, 2024) – The American Athletic Conference (AAC) has named its 2023-24 Scholar-Athletes of the Year and All-Academic Team, the league announced on Thursday. The University of South Florida had 294 student-athletes earn All-Academic honors while four Bulls were named AAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for their respective sport.

Melanie Green was named the AAC Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Jake Peacock the Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Ajmeer Spengler the Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year and Alvin Tudorica the Men's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

South Florida's 294 total All-Academic Team recipients was up from its total of 235 during the 2023-23 academic year.

Green, Peacock, Spengler and Tudorica will each receive a $2,000 postgraduate scholarship for being named their respective sport's Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Selections for the AAC's 23 Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards are made by the Academic Committee on the basis of academic credentials and athletic performance. Each conference school may nominate one student-athlete per sport who has achieved senior academic standing as determined by the institution. A winner is chosen from each of the conference's 21 sponsored sports in addition to at-large selections from sports not sponsored by the conference.

Nominations for the All-Academic Team are submitted by each AAC member institution. To be eligible for the honor, a nominee must have competed in an AAC-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 for the preceding academic year, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses. The nominations are reviewed and approved by the AAC Academic Affairs Committee.
