Bulls Lock In First Win Of The Season

TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 29, 2024 – South Florida men's soccer (1-1-1) earned its first win of the season with a 2-0 shutout victory against Eckerd on Thursday night at Corbett Stadium in Tampa, Fla.
 
Fifteen minutes into the first stanza, Lovro Kostanjsek found the back of the net to put the Bulls in front. Mathis Haugen logged the assist on the first goal of the night. Later on, in the 36th minute, Jalen Anderson scored, with Michael Owens on the assist. Kostanjsek and Anderson's goals were both their first of the 2024 campaign.
 
Goalkeeper Felix Schaefer collared his second shutout of the season, with a single save on the night.

  • South Florida has now topped Eckerd 10 times, and the all-time series favors USF, 10-2-0.
  • Jalen Anderson scored his first goal of the season (20th Career Goal).

USF Men's Soccer competed in the school's first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3. Cunningham has also been selected to join the USF Athletics Hall of Fame this Fall.

The Bulls have reached the NCAA Tournament 13 times over the past 22 seasons.
