Kostanjšek Scores Second Career Goal; Bulls Tie Seahawks, 1-1

WILMINGTON, N.C., Sept. 2, 2024 – Lovro Kostanjšek scored his second career goal, and South Florida men's soccer (1-1-2) tied UNC Wilmington (1-0-2), 1-1, at UNCW Soccer Stadium in Wilmington, N.C. on Monday night.
In the first frame, South Florida outshot UNC Wilmington, 4-2. Lovro Kostanjsek, Jalen Anderson, Louis Hervouin, and Richard Thompson Jr. each took a single shot for the Bulls.
Seven minutes into the second half, the Seahawks converted on a penalty kick opportunity, as Christian Acevedo netted his first career goal. UNC Wilmington scored the first goal of the night and led 1-0.
In the 76th minute of action, Lovro Kostanjsek scored the equalizer. Anderson had the assist on Kostanjsek's goal. The game picked up in the second half, as USF outshot UNCW, 8-4, for the remainder of the match.
With less then ten seconds left on the clock, Gunnar Studenhofft attempted to put the Bulls ahead, but his shot in the center of the net was saved by the Seahawks Viktor Engh.
NOTABLE NUMBERS
South Florida returns home for a meeting with FGCU on Friday, Sept. 6. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and the match will stream live on ESPN+. There will be a USF Men's Soccer Scarf giveaway for fans.

Men's Soccer has two Alumni and a coach in the USF Athletics Hall of Fame: Fergus Hopper and Jeff Attinella, & Dan Holcomb. Cunningham has also been selected to join the USF Athletics Hall of Fame this Fall.
The Bulls have reached the NCAA Tournament 13 times over the past 22 seasons.
