TALLAHASSEE, Fla., September 1, 2024 – Caroline Dykes served her 100
th career ace in the University of South Florida volleyball team's (0-3) loss to UC Santa Barbara (1-2) on Sunday afternoon.
The Bulls lost with scores of 19-25, 21-25, 26-24, 21-25.
Maria Clara Andrade (Sao Paulo, Brazil) led the Bulls with 19 kills, her first double-digit performance of the season. She was named to the Seminole Invitational All-Tournament team.
Imani Hartfield (Sanford) followed with 10 kills. Along with her two aces, Dykes dished out 40 assists, bringing her career total to 3,118.
Lia Schneider (St. Charles, Ill.) led with 16 digs.
Samiha Foster (Laurel, Md.) joined Dykes with two aces.
UC Santa Barbara took control of the first set, taking a 22-10 lead. A late 8-2 run by the Bulls forced a Gaucho timeout, but UCSB took set one.
South Florida battled throughout the second set, tying at 11. UCSB grew its lead to 21-16. South Florida scored five of the next seven points but fell in set two.
South Florida found momentum in the third set, taking the 18-12 lead. Dykes served her 100
th career ace to give the Bulls the 12-8 lead. UCSB came back and tied the set at 24, but the Bulls stayed strong to take set three, 26-24.
After UCSB scored the first point of the fourth set, the Bulls went on a 6-0 scoring run, forcing a UCSB timeout. The Gauchos came back and took the final set.

- Dykes reached 100 career aces.
- Andrade and Hartfield totaled 29 kills and four block assists.
- Six Bulls served eight aces.
- Andrade earned a spot on the Seminole Invitational All-Tournament Team.
UP NEXT
South Florida will head to Gainesville for the Gator Invitational next weekend. The Bulls are set to play Florida, Ohio State, and Southern Indiana.
