IRVING, Texas, September 30, 2024 – After back-to-back sweeps over Charlotte and East Carolina to start their conference slate,
Maria Clara Andrade (Sao Paulo, Brazil) was named the American Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while
Caroline Dykes (Flower Mound, Texas) earned her second AAC Setter of the Week honor. This is Andrade's third AAC Player of the Week honor in her career and Dykes' second of the season.
Andrade and Dykes led the Bulls to their first sweep over East Carolina since 2016 and the first three-set match between the two squads since 2019.
Andrade led the Bulls with 32 kills, averaging 5.33 per set. She was the only South Florida to register double-digit kills in both matches. With 16 kills in both matches, Andrade has extended her double-digit kill streak to seven matches. She led South Florida with five service aces. Her three aces against Charlotte were a season-high.
Dykes dished out 70 assists this weekend, averaging 11.67 assists per set. With her 70 assists, she surpassed the 3,500-assist mark for her career. Dykes followed Andrade with four service aces.

South Florida will travel to Philadelphia for a match with the Temple Owls on Friday at 6 p.m. The Bulls will return home and welcome the Memphis Tigers for the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Match and Alumni Weekend on Sunday, October 6. Head coach Jolene Shepardson enters her fifth season at the helm of her alma mater in 2024. Named head coach on Jan. 8, 2020, Shepardson led the Bulls' program to its last conference championship and NCAA tournament appearance as a student-athlete in 2002. Earning the AAC East Division title in 2023, South Florida made a postseason appearance in the NIVC, winning three games and advancing to the Fab Four to mark the longest postseason run in program history. South Florida Volleyball has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances and won 12 conference titles since its inception in 1972.
