TAMPA, Fla., October 20, 2025 – This past weekend, the University of South Florida Women's Tennis team traveled to Orlando to compete in the ITA Southeast Regional Championship hosted by UCF. The Southeast Region is known to be one of the toughest in the country and South Florida had 4 Bulls get directly into the main draw while 2 won their way through the qualifying. From big wins in doubles to resilience in singles, the Bulls put their talent on display.
In qualifying, Miglio, Drukerova, Marcon and Vargas all competed on Thursday for a chance to play in the main draw on Friday. Miglio started out with a bye, and then won against Stetson 6-3 7-5 to advance to the main draw. Marcon won her first match in the qualifying draw against FIU 5-7 6-3 6-1 and then solidified her spot in the main draw with a win against FSU 6-4 6-1. They both joined Leeson, Falster, Senli and Ruud to make it an impressive 6 Bulls competing in the singles main draw.
Miglio and Falster both drew seeded players and almost gutted out a couple wins, both taking sets over Georgia and Georgia Tech respectively before losing in a close 3 set battle. Leeson won her first match against Georgia Southern 7-5 6-2 to advance to the top 32 of the tournament but fell short to a strong Georgia player 6-1, 6-4. Ruud and Senli battled in their first rounds but fell short to UCF and FSU. Senli gutted out a tough win in the back draw against Miami to win the match in the match tiebreaker. Marcon battled in her first round against Georgia State and lost in a close 3 set match.
The Bulls had lots of momentum behind them in doubles, with partners Senli/Miglio leading the way. The pair won against FIU 8-1, then against Miami who was seeded #5 8-5, then played a near flawless match that swept Georgia Tech 8-0, advancing all the way to the quarterfinals where they lost against Georgia. Marcon/Leeson won against Georgia Southern 8-3 to make it to the final 32 where they lost to Kennesaw State.
The weekend in Orlando highlighted the Bulls' competitive spirit and determination, with standout performances in doubles and hard-fought battles across singles draws. From strong qualifying efforts to deep runs in doubles, the team demonstrated steady progress and resilience against some of the region's toughest opponents. The Bulls will look to carry this momentum into their upcoming fall competitions as they continue building toward a strong spring season.
