USF Men’s Basketball Remains Undefeated at Home with 81–75 Win Over Charleston

Bulls use dominant 23–0 run and strong performance from Freshman Tristan Beckford to secure second straight victory.

TAMPA, Fla, Dec. 10, 2025 – The University of South Florida men's basketball team defeated the College of Charleston, 81–75, on Wednesday night at the Yuengling Center to remain undefeated at home. The Bulls used a dominant 23–0 first-half run, efficient perimeter shooting, and major contributions from their freshmen to secure their second straight win.

Joseph Pinion led USF with 21 points and six three-pointers, his third game this season with at least six made threes. Freshman Tristan Beckford followed with a career-high 17 points and nine rebounds, including the first three-pointer of his collegiate career. His 17-point performance marked the highest single-game scoring total by any USF freshman this season.

Freshman Adriel Nyorha added seven points, four rebounds, four assists, and three blocks, delivering one of the most complete defensive performances of the night. Izaiyah Nelson also scored 17 points with nine rebounds to round out the scoring depth.
South Florida and Charleston traded buckets through the opening minutes, with the Bulls holding steady behind strong defense and several forced turnovers, including momentum-setting blocks from freshman Adriel Nyorha. USF then delivered its best stretch of the night with a 23–0 run from 11:23 to 4:21, using efficient shooting and strong defensive pressure to flip an 11-point deficit into a 12-point lead.

Joseph Pinion started the half four-for-four from three and finished the period with five made threes. Freshman Tristan Beckford added key scoring during the run and entered halftime as USF's second-leading scorer with 12 points. The Bulls extended their momentum into a 27–6 finish over the final seven minutes of the half and took a 46–43 lead into the break.

New USF football head coach Brian Hartline was introduced to the crowd during the first timeout of the opening half, drawing a warm ovation from Bulls fans inside the Yuengling Center. Hartline, who was named the program's ninth head coach earlier this week, joined the spirit squads at mid-court for the t-shirt toss in his first public appearance on campus.

In the second half, USF's defense continued to hold firm and limit Charleston's drives. The Bulls forced seven turnovers and collected 15 rebounds after halftime, and Pinion added his sixth three-pointer to widen the margin. Nelson continued to score through contact in the paint, and Beckford contributed key rebounds and defensive stops to maintain USF's cushion. Charleston never cut the deficit to fewer than four points as the Bulls closed out an 81–75 victory to remain undefeated at home.

Note-a-Bulls:
  • Double-Digit Depth – Three Bulls reached double digits: Joseph Pinion, Izaiyah Nelson, and Tristan Beckford.
