TAMPA (Dec. 9, 2025) – The University of South Florida volleyball standout Maria Clara Andrade has earned a spot on the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region First Team. This is her second straight season earning the honor.

The award comes on the heels of another dominant season for Andrade, who helped lead the Bulls back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2002. A two-time American Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Andrade has been the Bulls' offensive anchor throughout her career and continues to shine on the sport's biggest stages.

Andrade capped her season as one of the nation's premier attackers, leading the American Conference in kills per set (4.39), total points (519), and points per set (4.99). She will graduate with 1,622 career kills—fourth most in program history—after producing 11 double-doubles and seven performances with 20 or more kills this fall.

With her selection, Andrade becomes one of the few Bulls ever to earn first-team all-region recognition, continuing to build a resume that includes multiple conference honors, All-America accolades, and several program records still within reach as her senior season continues.

USF recently returned to the NCAA Tournament, facing defending national champion Penn State in the opening round. Andrade's all-region nod adds another highlight to a memorable postseason run for the Bulls.
 
There are 14 first-team All-Region members and an additional group of honorable mention selections for each of the 10 regions. A Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and Coach of the Year were selected for every region. The 213 student-athletes who made All-Region represent 109 different schools. Nebraska leads the way with seven All-Region selections, followed by Pittsburgh and Stanford with six apiece. Florida, Kentucky, Louisville, Minnesota, Texas A&M, and Wisconsin each have five All-Region first-team/honorable mention selections. The 2025 AVCA Division I Women's All-America teams will be announced next Wednesday, Dec. 17.

Head coach Jolene Shepardson enters her sixth season at the helm of her alma mater in 2025. Named head coach on January 8, 2020, Shepardson led the Bulls to a conference championship and the program's last NCAA tournament appearance as a student-athlete in 2002. South Florida won the 2024 AAC regular-season title, earning Jolene Shepardson her first Coach of the Year Honor. In 2023, the Bulls won the AAC East Division title, made a postseason appearance in the NIVC, won three matches, and advanced to the Fab Four to mark the longest postseason run in program history. The Bulls have also had four Setter of the Year honors, most recently in Caroline Dykes in 2024. South Florida has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances and won 13 conference titles since its inception in 1972.
