South Florida Battles Tough Conditions at Florida Gators Invitational, Place Sixth

February 16, 2025

TAMPA, Fla (February 16, 2025) – Battling tough conditions and a weather delay in the final round, the South Florida men's golf team finished sixth in a competitive 14-team field at the Florida Gators Invitational in Gainesville this weekend.

No. 14 Florida claimed the tournament title, while No. 9 Oklahoma State finished as the runner-up. Despite the challenging conditions, the Bulls posted their second-best team score of the season (849), marking their best score since their opener in Knoxville.

Senior Jake Peacock led the way for South Florida, tying for 13th with rounds of 67-69-74 (even par). His opening two rounds in the 60s adds to his status as team leader in sub-70 rounds, bringing his season total to five.

Shubham Jaglan put on a strong performance to start the spring, setting a new season-low round with a 68 in the opener before shattering it with a 66 in round two. He finished tied for 21st.

Cooper Smith placed T-26 at four-over, while Nino Palmquist (+7) and Wilhelm Ryding (+11) rounded out the Bulls' scoring.

USF turns its attention to the Hayt Invitational, set for March 8 in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
