USF Men’s Basketball Heads North to Philadelphia for a Matchup with Temple

The Bulls and Owls meet for the second time this season after the first meeting went to double overtime

February 25, 2025

TAMPA, Fla, Feb. 25, 2025 – The University of South Florida men's basketball team hits the road for an American Athletic Conference game with Temple in Philadelphia. The Bulls (13-15, 6-9) and the Owls (14-14, 6-9) will take to the court on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

Setting The Stage:
South Florida has gone to overtime in four of its 13 games against Temple since the start of the 2018-19 season, including a double-overtime thriller this year. The Bulls and Owls are tied in the AAC standings, and both teams look to improve their records.

Series History:
The Bulls and the Owls will meet for the 25th time on Wednesday. Temple leads the series 15-9. South Florida has won the last three matchups, including the 100-91 double-overtime game on Feb. 6. The Bulls are 4-6 against the Owls in Philadelphia.

Note-A-Bulls:
Brandon Stroud has tallied 31 points, 26 rebounds, 10 steals, nine assists, and five blocks in the last two games. He is the only player since the start of the 1996-97 season to record at least 30 points, 25 rebounds, 10 steals, nine assists, and five blocks in a two-game span.

He joined Southeastern Louisiana's Ricky Woods (2006) and Baylor's Lawrence Roberts (2001) to achieve the statline of at least 30 points, 25 rebounds, 10 steals, and five blocks.

In the game against North Texas, CJ Brown recorded his 13th-straight game with a steal. He tied the longest streak by a USF freshman, tying B.B. Waldon's mark during the 1998-99 season. Brown is tied with Georgetown's Thomas Sorber for the nation's longest active streak by a freshman.

Additional Notes:
Jayden Reid has recorded at least 10 points and multiple steals in four straight games, coming off the bench in each. That is the longest such streak by a USF player in the last 25 years and the longest by any AAC player all-time.

South Florida is 11th in the nation and is third in the conference with 15.43 fastbreak points per game. The Bulls are 34th in the NCAA and second in the AAC, averaging 27.96 bench points per game. The USF bench has only been outscored six times this season. South Florida is holding opponents to 19.11 bench points per game.
