SOUTH FLORIDA SWEEPS DOUBLE-HEADER AT HOME

The Bulls defeated University of North Carolina Wilmington and Furman at home on Thursday.
TAMPA, FLA. (March 6, 2025)- The No. 36 University of South Florida's Men's Tennis Team (11-3) returned home after seven straight away matches with two sweeps. South Florida began the day with a 4-0 clinched win over UNCW (3-6) and a 7-0 victory over Furman (5-7) in the afternoon.
South Florida took doubles, winning two of the three courts. Ben Hudson and Toto Llanes took a 3-6 victory on Court 2, which allowed Hugo Car and Agustin Cuellar to secure the doubles point with a 6-4 win on Court 3.
Moving into singles, the Bulls came out aggressive. Gughi Verdese finished first on Court 5 with a swift 6-4, 6-1 win. Stepan Mruzek followed with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win on Court 5. Toto Llanes provided the clinching and match-ending point with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 victory on Court 6.
Later in the afternoon, the Bulls faced the Paladins. South Florida took two of the three doubles courts, starting with a 7-5 win on Court 1 by Mruzek and Llanes. Car and Cuellar wrapped it up for the second time with a 6-4 win on Court 2.
The Bulls took every singles court against the Paladins. Cuellar wrapped up first with a 6-1, 6-1 win on Court 2. Elijah Cham followed with a 6-1, 6-4 win on Court 3. Verdese earned his second singles win of the day and the clinching point, with a 6-4, 6-1 victory on Court 5. Llanes earned his second singles triumph as well on Court 6, with a 6-3, 6-1. Car followed with a 7-5, 6-3 victory on Court 1. Mruzek finished up the day with his second singles win on Court 4, with a score of 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7).

The Bulls will travel to Orlando, Fla. to face No. 19 UCF for the second time this season on Sunday, March 9th. The Bulls lost to the Knights in a very close 3-4 match in Tampa, Fla. on February 3rd. The Bulls are 14-11 against the Knights in program history.
