USF Softball Sweeps Tulsa with a 6-3 Victory on Sunday

Josie Foreman recorded the first four-hit performance of her career

TAMPA, Fla., April 13, 2025 – Alanah Rivera and Camille Ortiz-Martinez hit home runs for the University of South Florida softball team on Sunday against Tulsa. Belle Sardja earned her second save of the weekend as the Bulls (33-12-1, 12-5-1) defeated the Golden Hurricane (18-24, 6-12) 6-3 inside the USF Softball Stadium.

Josie Foreman recorded the first four-hit game of her career with a 4-for-4 day at the plate. She scored twice and added an RBI. Rivera crushed her sixth home run of the season as she went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Ortiz-Martinez belted her eighth home run of the season. Rivera and Olivia Elliott extended their hitting streaks to five games. With a hit in today's game, Alexa Galligani has reached base safely in 11 straight.

Payton Dixon started the game in the circle and went 5.0 innings in the winning effort. She improved to 16-5 on the season. She struck out four batters and gave up three runs, none of them earned. Sardja collected her seventh save of the season and the 13th of her career. She struck out two batters and did not allow a runner to reach base.

It did not take long for the defense to make a spectacular play. Rivera made a backhand stab on a hard-hit ball into the hole at shortstop in the top of the first inning. She regained her balance and threw the runner out at first.
Galligani started things in the bottom of the first with a one-out single up the middle. After Alex Wilkes reached on a fielder's choice, Foreman lined a single to center field. A fielding error allowed Wilkes to score. Rivera extended the USF lead to 3-0 with a two-run home run off the light pole in left center.
Galligani led off the home half of the third inning with a four-pitch walk. Foreman doubled down the left-field line and gave USF runners on second and third. After Rivera reached on a fielder's choice, Ortiz-Martinez blasted a three-run home run to left center. The Bulls extended their lead to 6-0.
The Golden Hurricane cut the lead in half in the top of the fifth with three runs on four hits and one USF error.

Sardja closed out the game with two perfect innings as the Bulls claimed the series sweep with a 6-3 victory.
