South Florida Places Second at AAC Championships After Two Playoff Rounds

Jake Peacock Wins Individual Title

April 23, 2025

SARASOTA, Fla (April 23, 2025) – The South Florida men's golf team fell just short of a second consecutive AAC title. They battled through not only 54 holes, but two playoff rounds finishing just one stroke behind North Carolina-Charlotte. The Bulls' team total was 829 (-35). This team showed a tremendous amount of heart this week consistently encouraging one another after falling just short of the ultimate goal.

Jake Peacock won the individual title for the second straight year. His 202 (-14) serves his season best 54-hole total. Peacock became the first ever back-to-back individual champion in AAC history.

Wilhelm Ryding continued his stellar spring season this week and held the lead going into the final round on Wednesday. Ryding finished with a 206 (-10) tying him for fourth. The junior from Sweden was dialed in all three days of the AAC Championships. He maintained his composure through the ups and downs of the course and was rewarded with a top-five finish in the Conference. This is major fuel for him as he enters the next round of postseason golf as well as heading into his senior year.

Shubham Jaglan saved his best golf of the week for round three on Wednesday. He carded a 67 (-5) in the final round to earn a fourth-place tie with teammate, Wilhelm Ryding. Jaglan posted rounds of 69-70-67. With three consecutive birdies on holes 10, 11 and 12, he managed to jump up six spots to crack the top-five in his final AAC Championship.

Nino Palmquist and Cooper Smith's performances mirrored each other through the three rounds. They both tied for 27th posting rounds of 72-73-71. Smith's birdie on hole 18 was huge for the Bulls as this allowed them to tie Charlotte and take the Conference Championship to a playoff round. Both Palmquist and Smith played incredibly consistent golf through 54 holes keeping the Bulls in contention through the three rounds. This type of consistency will be needed as the Bulls advance further into postseason golf.

The Bulls proved this week why they are such a special team and have had such immense success under the leadership of Coach Steve Bradley and Coach Bradley Caldwell. The season is not over for South Florida as they will hear in the coming weeks where they will be heading for the NCAA Regionals. This will be a massive opportunity for the Bulls as they look to punch a ticket to the NCAA National Championships in Carlsbad, CA.
