GAINESVILLE, Fla., April 23, 2025 – The University of South Florida softball team played its last non-conference game of the regular season on the road against No. 6/8 Florida.
Alexa Galligani drove in the lone run for the Bulls (36-13-1) in the 9-1 loss to the Gators (40-10) on Wednesday inside Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
Galligani,
Olivia Elliott, and
Alanah Rivera collected the hits for the Bulls. With her single, Galligani has reached base safely in 15 straight games. Elliott extended her hitting streak to nine games.
DaNia Brooks scored the run for USF after she was walked.
Payton Dixon got the start in the circle and fell to 17-6 on the season. She went four innings and surrendered six earned runs.
Anne Long faced five batters in the fifth, while
McKenna Schroding tossed 0.2 innings in relief.
The Gators got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the third. Rylee Holtorf led off the inning with a home run. UF followed with two runs on one hit and took a 3-0 lead into the fourth inning.
DaNia Brooks drew a five-pitch walk with one out in the top of the fifth inning to start things for the Bulls. Elliott produced a one-out single to give USF runners on first and second with two outs. Galligani delivered an RBI single to center as Brooks scored from second.
Florida scored six runs in the home half of the sixth inning and enforced the run rule by the score of 9-1.

The Bulls return to the road for a three-game American Athletic Conference series against North Texas. The series will be between the second-place (USF) and third-place (UNT) teams in the AAC standings. Game one's first pitch is slated for 7 p.m. ET on Friday, April 25, on ESPN+.
