USF Baseball Heads to the City of Blues for a Three-Game Series Against Memphis

South Florida looks to continue win streak

TAMPA, APRIL 3, 2025 – The University of South Florida baseball team (17-9, 5-1 AAC) will head to Memphis, Tenn., for a three-game series against the Memphis Tigers (11-17, 0-6 AAC) this Friday and Saturday. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
The Bulls and Tigers will now play game one of the series at 1 p.m. (E.T.) on Friday, with game two following 45 minutes after the conclusion of game one. The series finale is still scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. (E.T.)
 
Setting The Stage:
Through the first two weekends of conference play, the Bulls have a 5-1 record, the best start since 2015. The Bulls took the series, 2-1, against UAB and swept Tulane for the first time since 1993. In 2015, the Bulls swept Cincinnati and took two against UConn. That season, the Bulls went to the NCAA Tournament.
 
After the first seven weeks of the 2025 baseball season, South Florida has an RPI ranking of 38, the highest in the American. Of the ten teams in the conference, five are ranked in the top 100: South Florida (38), UTSA (41), Florida Atlantic (79), East Carolina (82), and Charlotte (95).
 
Series History:
The Bulls and Tigers have met 65 times, with South Florida leading the all-time series 34-31. The series is tied in Memphis, 15-15.
 
Note-A-Bull:
  • On Friday, LHP Corey Braun pitched his first career game in the Bulls' 3-0 shutout win over Tulane. Braun held the Green Wave to only two hits across nine innings.
  • On Tuesday, Lance Trippel hit the Bull's first inside-the-park home run since Garrett Zech did so vs. Tulane on March 29, 2018.
  • INF Carlos Jacome has recorded a multi-hit game in five of his last seven games.
  • OF Marcus Brodil has recorded a team-leading 12 multi-hit games this season.
  • First-baseman Sebastian Greico tied his career-high four hits in a game on Tuesday. The senior leads the team with eight home runs.
  • LHP Corban Little earned the first career win on Tuesday against Bethune-Cookman.
  • Anthony Quigley earned the first start of his career on Tuesday.
 
Hannahs at the Helm:
Mitch Hannahs was named South Florida's eighth head coach in program history on June 8, 2024, after compiling 355 wins over 11 seasons at Indiana State. The 2023 ABCA NCAA DI Midwest Region Coach of the Year guided the Sycamores to six conference titles and five NCAA Regionals, guiding ISU to a spot in the 2023 NCAA Super Regional. He takes over a USF team that went 26-29 last year and features 24 new players.
 
60th Year of USF Baseball:
The South Florida Baseball program played its first season in 1966 and will enter its 60th campaign in 2025. The Bulls have made 14 NCAA Tournament appearances and earned their first-ever Super Regional berth in 2021. USF has won 11 conference titles - five tournament titles (3 Sun Belt, 1 Metro, and 1 American) and six regular season championships (3 Sun Belt, 2 Metro, and 1 C-USA). Bulls baseball players have been recognized with All-America honors 12 times, and 19 Bulls have earned Freshman All-America accolades.
