TAMPA, Fla. (August 24, 2025) – The University of South Florida women's soccer team was back on the pitch for the first time inside Corbett Stadium on Sunday. South Florida faced Colorado State. The Bulls (1-3) fell to the Rams (3-0), 1-0, in a 90-minute battle.
The match was delayed for one hour and 48 minutes due to lightning. The Bulls outshot the Rams 7-1 in the first half but were unable to find the back of the net. South Florida held Colorado State to no corners and just one shot in the opening stanza. The match was 0-0 at the break.
In the 58th minute, the Rams had their first shot of the second half. A cross was delivered into the box, and the Colorado State forward produced a solid header towards the South Florida goal.
Leire Herraez Gallach came up with a big diving save to keep the match scoreless.
In the 84th minute, Olivia Fout put the Rams on the board with a long-range shot. She was able to sneak her shot into the upper 90 between the left post and the crossbar. The Bulls continued to attack the Rams' goal but were unable to find the equalizer.
Gaby Rourke got the start in goal for USF and stopped the only shot she saw in her 45 minutes. Herraez Gallach finished the match with two saves. The Bulls outshot the Rams 16-6 and had a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks. Offensively,
Sadie Sider-Echenberg led the way with two shots on goal.
Gentiana Fetaj and
Sophia Cabral each added a shot on goal.
Next Up
The Bulls head to North Carolina for a two-match stint. South Florida returns to the pitch on Thursday, August 28, at No. 10 Wake Forest. The match is scheduled for an 8 p.m. first touch from Winston-Salem on AACNX.

Brown spent 17 years as associate head coach (2007–2023), helping USF to three American Athletic Conference titles, eight NCAA appearances, and a 10-year streak of 10+ win seasons. He coached USF's first All-American, Evelyne Viens, now a Hall of Famer and Olympic gold medalist, and has developed multiple American Athletic Conference award winners. Players under his guidance hold most of the program's records.
