USF Women’s Soccer Falls in 90-Minute Battle at No. 19 Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (August 28, 2025) – The University of South Florida women's soccer team faced its second top 25 team of the season on Thursday with a matchup against No. 19 Wake Forest in Winston-Salem. The Bulls (1-4) battled for 90 minutes but fell to the Demon Deacons (4-1) 1-0.
 
Gentiana Fetaj produced the first scoring chance of the match in the eighth minute, but her shot was saved. In the 30th minute, the defense came up with a huge team save on the first scoring chance by the Demon Deacons. South Florida held Wake Forest to just one shot on goal in the first half. The match went to the intermission scoreless.
 
Hedda Ornberg recorded the first shot on goal in the second half, but the keeper stopped the shot. Wake Forest scored the only goal of the match in the 68th minute and went on to claim a 1-0 victory.

Gaby Rourke played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bulls. She notched two saves. Noelle Sather and Hedda Ornberg tallied two shots on goal apiece.

The Bulls remain in North Carolina for the next contest on Sunday, August 31. South Florida faces off with UNC Greensboro on ESPN+ at 1 p.m.
