GREENSBORO, N.C. (August 31, 2025) – The University of South Florida women's soccer team needed just 19 seconds to score the first goal of the match against UNC Greensboro on Sunday.
Hedda Ornberg scored the fast goal as the Bulls (2-4) bested the Spartans (0-5) 1-0 from the UNCG Soccer Stadium.
After USF intercepted a pass from UNCG,
Gentiana Fetaj turned and looked to get the attack started. She sent a perfectly placed through ball to the feet of Ornberg. Ornberg continued to dribble into the box before she beat the keeper to the bottom right corner of the goal. Ornberg's goal was the only one of the match as South Florida went on to win 1-0.
Leire Herraez Gallach played all 90 minutes in goal for the Bulls. She tied a season high with five saves. Four of those saves came in the second half and helped secure the clean sheet. The stout USF defense limited UNCG to five shots on goal for the match. Offensively, Ornberg and Fetaj led the way with two shots.
From the Coach – Head Coach Chris Brown
"We are obviously pleased to get the result. Especially after putting in a strong performance at Wake Forest on Thursday and coming up just short. UNCG is a quality soccer team, and we had to make some tactical adjustments today to preserve our early lead."
