TAMPA, September 4, 2025 – The University of South Florida volleyball team welcomes the Florida State Seminoles and the South Carolina Gamecocks this Friday and Sunday for the South Florida Invitational.
 
The Bulls will open the invitational on Friday with a 6 p.m. match against the Seminole in the Yuengling Center. On Sunday, the Bulls and Gamecocks will close out the weekend with a 1 p.m. match in the Corral. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
Setting The Stage:
The Bulls (0-3) continue their six-match streak of Power Four opponents this weekend with Florida State and South Carolina. South Florida is still looking for its first win of the season.
 
Series History:
Florida State leads the all-time series against South Florida. 40-7. The Seminoles took the last meeting in 2024, 3-0, in Tallahassee. The Bulls lead the all-time series against the Game
 
Note-A-Bull:
Maria Clara Andrade, a key player, leads her team with 35 kills and was only five away from tying her career-high of 28 in a recent match against Florida. Arianna Beckham is another important contributor, with 32 kills and an average of 2.67 kills per set.
 
Additional Notes:
Raegan Richardson also stands out with 58 assists and three service aces. On the defensive side, Samiha Foster leads with 36 digs, while Iyanna Garvin has recorded 13 blocks this season, averaging 1.08 blocks per set.

Head coach Jolene Shepardson enters her sixth season at the helm of her alma mater in 2025. Named head coach on January 8, 2020, Shepardson led the Bulls to a conference championship and the program's last NCAA tournament appearance as a student-athlete in 2002. South Florida won the 2024 AAC regular-season title, earning Jolene Shepardson her first Coach of the Year Honor. In 2023, the Bulls won the AAC East Division title, made a postseason appearance in the NIVC, won three matches, and advanced to the Fab Four to mark the longest postseason run in program history. South Florida Volleyball has won eight Player of the Year honors, most recently in Maria Clara Andrade in 2024. The Bulls have also had four Setter of the Year honors, most recently in Caroline Dykes in 2024. South Florida has made seven NCAA Tournament appearances and won 13 conference titles since its inception in 1972.
