USF Men’s Basketball Hosts Wichita State for Dunking Rocky Day and Alumni Game

Bulls look to build on three-game conference win streak, with Dunking Rocky merchandise available and alumni recognized.

TAMPA, Fla., January 16, 2026 – The University of South Florida men's basketball team (11-6, 3-1) continues conference play on Sunday afternoon, hosting Wichita State (10-8, 2-3) at 2 p.m. for the Alumni Game at the Yuengling Center.

The matchup will also serve as the program's inaugural Dunking Rocky game. The first 4,000 fans in attendance will receive a complimentary light-up Dunking Rocky rally towel upon entry. Fans will also have the first opportunity to purchase exclusive Dunking Rocky merchandise, available for the first time and exclusively inside the Yuengling Center team store while supplies last.

Program Comparison
The Bulls enter this game with a KenPom rating of 74, BPI of 76, and NET ranking of 63. The Shockers have a KenPom rating of 105, BPI of 101, and NET ranking of 96.
 
South Florida ranks No. 1 in the American in six team stat categories, including points per game (90.5), where Wichita State ranks No. 5 with 77.6 PPG.
 
The Bulls are also first in the American in turnover margin (+3.82), steals (10.0), assists (17.65), offensive rebounds (15.4), and overall rebounds (42.9).
 
Wichita State ranks second in the American in offensive rebounds per game (14.9), trailing South Florida's conference-leading 15.4. The Shockers also rank second in the conference in rebounding margin (+7.8), setting up a physical matchup on the glass.
 
Series History
Sunday marks the 15th all-time meeting between South Florida and Wichita State. The Bulls are 3–11 against the Shockers in the series. The most recent matchup came on March 13, 2025, at a neutral site, where South Florida narrowly fell 73–68.

Last Time Out
South Florida extended its conference win streak to three games on Wednesday night, earning an 82–71 home victory over East Carolina Pirates at the Yuengling Center. Click the link to read more about the East Carolina win.

The win built on the undefeated two-game conference road trip at North Texas and Tulsa and improved the Bulls to 3–1 in American Conference play. South Florida's only conference loss came earlier this month in a 109–106 double-overtime decision against UAB.

The Bulls now return home looking to maintain momentum as conference play continues.

About USF Men's Basketball
South Florida men's basketball named Bryan Hodgson, 37, as the program's 12th head coach on March 24, 2025. Hodgson came to Tampa from Arkansas State, where he led the program to back-to-back 20-win seasons and its first postseason appearance since 1999 in his two seasons at the helm.
 
The program, entering its 55th season in 2025-26, most recently won the American Athletic Conference regular season championship in 2023-24 and has made 13 postseason appearances, including three NCAA Tournaments, nine NITs, and a CBI championship in 2019. Three former Bulls – Chucky Atkins, Charlie Bradley, and Rodenko Dobras – have had their jerseys retired and are members of the USF Athletic Hall of Fame. The Bulls play their home games at the 10,400-seat Yuengling Center on the USF Tampa campus.
