TAMPA, Fla. (January 17, 2026) – The University of South Florida women's basketball team held every Wichita State player under 10 points on Saturday.
Katie Davidson set a season high in points as the Bulls (12-7, 5-1 American) defeated the Shockers (3-16, 0-6 American), 75-53, on Alumni Night.
Davidson has recorded at least 20 points in three of the last four games. She posted a season-high 24 points. It was her third game with at least 20 points and her 11th in double figures. She added three rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
Edyn Battle recorded her first career double-double with 14 points and a career-high 10 assists. It was her 10th game in double figures and her first with double-digit assists. She collected two rebounds.
Fatou Diakite posted her sixth game in double figures with 12 points. She chipped in with three rebounds and a steal.
Carla Brito grabbed 10 rebounds, her fourth game with double digits. She scored four points, one shy of 1,000 for her career. She added two steals and two assists.
Ines Piper produced a game-high two blocks. She accounted for six points, five rebounds, and one steal.
As a team, the Bulls held the Shockers to zero players in double figures. South Florida shot 51.7 percent from the field, tied for the third-best mark this season. USF shared the ball well, dishing out 21 assists as a unit. South Florida dominated in the paint, outscoring Wichita State 44-28. The Bulls also held the advantage in points off turnovers (23-13) and fast-break points (25-8). USF was strong on the glass, collecting 37 rebounds.
How It Happened
The first five minutes were a back-and-forth battle as the two squads traded baskets. With the Shockers leading 11-10, they scored the game's next four points to go up 15-10. South Florida was unfazed and outscored Wichita State 8-4 to close the opening stanza. Davidson scored the final six points of the quarter for the Bulls. USF cut the WSU lead to one, 19-18.
The Bulls opened the second quarter with a 6-0 run and took a 24-19 lead. The defense ramped up on both ends of the court, as the two sides combined for 14 points. USF held the WSU to just six points in the quarter, which tied for the second-fewest points allowed in a quarter this season. South Florida took a 32-25 lead into the break. Davidson had a game-high 17 at the break.
The Bulls were able to stretch their lead to 10, 43-33, midway through the third quarter. South Florida closed out the stanza on an 11-4 run, capped off by a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from
Jelena Bulajic. USF held a 54-37 lead heading into the fourth.
South Florida's defense was stout to start the fourth quarter and held Wichita State to just one made field goal in the first 4:15 of game time.
Ines Piper accounted for four of the final nine points of the game for USF. The Bulls went on to win their fifth straight game behind a 75-53 victory.
Jalia Harding and Karys Washington tied for a team-high eight points for the Shockers.
