USF Men’s Tennis Competes Deep Into Lineup Against Florida, UCF

January 19, 2026

The Bulls put together an impressive weekend against two in-state Power 4 opponents, showcasing depth, resilience, and multiple statement wins.
On Saturday, Jan. 17, USF delivered a strong performance against Florida, highlighted by several high-quality singles victories. No. 28 Hugo Car set the tone at the top of the lineup with a composed straight-set win, while Agustin Cuellar controlled his match from start to finish. Stepan Mruzek added another clutch point with a gritty tiebreak win, giving the Bulls multiple singles victories against one of the nation's top programs.
USF carried that momentum into Sunday's matchup against UCF, battling deep into the lineup and competing in tightly contested singles matches throughout the day. The Bulls continued to show fight in pressure moments, with several courts pushing into extended sets and tiebreak situations, reinforcing USF's ability to go toe-to-toe with top regional competition.
Across the weekend, USF proved it can win at the highest spots in the lineup, compete in close matches against elite opponents, and bring consistent energy against Power 4 programs,  a promising sign as the season continues.
