CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Oct. 11, 2026) – South Florida men's soccer fell to No. 17 Charlotte, 1-0, on Sunday night at Jen Gaber field.

Marcus Steinhaeuser made five saves for the Bulls (1-10-1, 0-4-1), but a second-half penalty kick in the 62nd minute would prove to be the difference for the 49ers (8-1-3, 4-0-1).

The first half was scoreless. South Florida had a prime scoring chance in the 13th minute when Tyler Richardson rang a shot off the right post. Richardson went on to have four shots in the opening half. The Bulls spent a lot of time in the 49ers' end, but just couldn't find the back of the net. Marcus Steinhaeuser made three of his five saves in the first half.

Abeselom Zemenfes made a diving play in the box to keep the game scoreless in the 53rd minute. The 49ers finally broke the deadlock when Michael Raggett converted on a penalty kick to score the game's lone goal in the 62nd minute.

South Florida continued to create scoring chances late into the game. Gianluca Vecchiarelli forced a save from Alex Svetanoff in the 69th minute, Serigne Diallo had a shot saved in the 79th, and Max Kiefer sent two attempts wide right in the 77th and 83rd minutes. The 49ers outshot the Bulls 11-4 in the second half.

Note-A-Bulls:
