Curry, a 554-game winner, leads a retooled Bulls roster into Monday's opener at the Yuengling Center.
TAMPA, Fla., October 30, 2026 – A new era of South Florida women's basketball begins Monday, when the Bulls open the 2026-27 season against Furman at 5 p.m. ET at the Yuengling Center. The game marks Kristy Curry's debut as the seventh head coach in program history and will stream on ESPN+.
Curry's Debut
Curry arrived in Tampa in March after 13 seasons at Alabama, where she led the Crimson Tide to the postseason in each of her final six seasons. She enters her first season with the Bulls holding a 554-322 (.632) career record over 27 seasons as a head coach, with 21 postseason appearances (14 NCAA, 7 WNIT) and a trip to the 2001 national championship game with Purdue. She is one of 10 coaches in women's basketball history with at least 100 wins at three different programs.
Curry was named Thursday to the preseason watch list for the 2027 Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year Award.
Preseason Outlook
USF was picked to finish third in the American Conference preseason coaches' poll. The Bulls carry a 13-player roster into the opener: four returners – senior guard Stefanie Ingram, senior forward Fatou Diakite, sophomore guard Lee Teichman and sophomore center Lana Vukcevic – and nine players suiting up for USF for the first time.
Newcomers
Guard Hannah Kohn brings one of the nation's most accurate long-range strokes to Tampa. A Southern Conference All-Freshman pick at Chattanooga, where she set a program record by shooting 46.3% from three, Kohn followed with 79 made threes at Clemson in 2024-25, the second-highest single-season total in Tigers history. Last season she hit the game-winning three in Clemson's upset of No. 9 Duke, a shot later named the ACC's Nothing But Net Moment of the Year. Kohn is also the niece of former Bulls point guard Reggie Kohn, the USF men's program's all-time assists leader.
Senior guard Amourie Porter, a two-time Big South First Team All-Conference selection, averaged 16.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game at Winthrop last season and enters with 1,096 career points. Porter was also named USF's 2027 Kay Yow Servant Leader this week.
Senior guard Kate Novik joins from DePaul, where she earned All-Big East second-team honors after averaging 12.2 points, 6.4 rebounds and a team-high 3.5 assists. Junior guard Savannah Curry (Temple) adds a proven perimeter defender who averaged 7.4 points and shot 90.7% from the line last season.
In the post, senior forward Mallory Collier (NC State) and junior forward Kendall Puryear (Purdue) give the Bulls a pair of physical 6-foot-3 options. Puryear made 14 starts for Purdue as a sophomore, averaging 6.6 points and 3.2 rebounds.
The newcomer class also includes junior guard Gabby Kennerly (Mount St. Mary's), who averaged 15.1 points per game last season; freshman guard Serenity Hardy, Florida's reigning Miss Basketball out of Winter Haven High School; and freshman forward Lisandra Vetesina of Estonia.
Returning Bulls
Senior point guard Stefanie Ingram leads the returning group after earning third-team All-American Conference honors last season. The Orlando native averaged 9.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and a league-best 5.7 assists per game, and her 181 assists ranked 16th nationally and fourth on USF's single-season list. She scored 27 points in last season's upset of Duke.
Senior forward Fatou Diakite returns for her third season in Tampa after averaging 6.1 points and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 54.1% from the field. Sophomore guard Lee Teichman, who appeared in 21 games last season, and 6-foot-5 sophomore center Lana Vukcevic round out the returners.
Scouting Furman
Furman went 18-13 overall and 9-5 in SoCon play last season under head coach Pierre Curtis, now in his fourth season. The Paladins return their top three scorers, all juniors: forward Clare Coyle (14.8 ppg, 9.1 rpg), guard Alyssa Ervin (13.8 ppg) and guard Raina McGowens (9.1 ppg). Coyle and Ervin both earned All-SoCon honors a year ago.
