Bulls post their sixth straight home win
TAMPA, FEB. 11, 2026 – South Florida women's basketball (15-10; 8-4 American) extended its home winning streak to six games Wednesday night in the Yuengling Center with a 72-60 victory over Tulsa (16-8; 8-4 American).
Tulsa entered game third in the American Conference standings while the Bulls were fourth, but USF flipped the tables on the Golden Hurricane, posting their second straight double-digit home win. It was Play 4 Kay night, as the Bulls honored cancer warriors, survivors, and thrivers in the fight against cancer and donned pink accented jerseys.
South Florida dominated the boards, out-rebounding Tulsa 51-33 in a physical game that saw both teams struggle shooting in the first half but heat up in the second to nearly double their first half point totals.
"The second half we really picked up the momentum and got some easy looks," Bulls head coach
Michele Woods-Baxter said. "It was a physical game, which is good. It will prepare us for what is down the road."
The Bulls were led by 22 points on a career-best tying five threes from
Katie Davidson and got double-doubles from both
L'or Mputu and
Carla Brito. Mputu posted 15 points and 12 rebounds while Brito posted 10 points, 15 rebounds and a career-best seven assists. This one game after posting a career-best 19 rebounds in a win over Tulane.
Tulsa was led by 16 points from Mady Cartwright, but hit just 7-of-26 from three and was outscored at the foul line, 17-11, by the Bulls.
How it Happened
The Bulls built an early six-point lead, 11-5, as Tulsa started 1-of-13 from the field and kept up the defensive pressure and rebounding through the first quarter. Neither team found the range from the field in the first quarter as the Bulls took a 13-9 lead into the second frame.
Tulsa used a 10-5 run to get within one point, 16-15, but the Bulls responded with buckets from Mputu and
Stefanie Ingram to lead 20-15 at the second quarter media timeout.
The Bulls took a 27-22 lead to the half as both teams struggled from the field, USF shooting 27 percent and Tulsa 26 percent, in a physical game that saw the Bulls lead the rebounding battle 29-16.
The Bulls came out 4-of-4 shooting to start the second half, including a three from Davidson, and built and eight-point lead, 38-30, midway through the third quarter.
The Bulls pushed the lead to nine, before Tulsa responded making five straight shots to go on an 11-3 run. The Golden Hurricane cut the USF lead to 43-42 when the Bulls called timeout with 2:39 to play in the third quarter.
Mputu scored the Bulls final six points of the quarter, converting a pair of three-point plays after being fouled on buckets close to the basket as the Bulls took a 49-44 lead into the fourth quarter.
To start the fourth, Eden Battle converted a pair of buckets on drives and a Davidson three built a 10-point lead, 56-46, forcing a Tulsa timeout with 8:08 to play. The Bulls continued a 10-0 run when Brito pulled down an offensive board and scored and Davidson nailed another three giving USF a 61-46 lead.
Tulsa cut the lead to nine but would get no closer as the Bulls made free throws down the stretch to post another double-digit home win.
