USF Beach Volleyball Earns First Ranked Win During 3–1 Opening Weekend at Green Wave Invitational

Bulls earn first ranked win and first conference victory in program history

New Orleans, La., February 21, 2026 – The University of South Florida beach volleyball team continued its inaugural weekend Saturday at the Green Wave Invitational, defeating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 3–2, and No. 20 Tulane, 3–2, at the White Sands Volleyball Courts in New Orleans, La.
 
South Florida (3–1) secured its first multiple-win day in program history and recorded its first win over a ranked opponent, defeating No. 20 Tulane in its Conference USA debut.
 
South Florida 3, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 2

The Bulls rallied winning three of the final four courts to secure the dual.
 
Cornelia Crudu and Julia Panko (Pair 2) earned a point with a three-set comeback, 17–21, 21–14, 15–13. Abigail Lagemann and Tereza Lajkebova (Pair 3) followed with a 23–21, 18–21, 15–9 win to give South Florida the lead.
 
Sasha Pasloski and Bella Almeida (Pair 4) clinched the dual in dramatic fashion, edging their Islanders opponents 16–21, 22–20, 15–13.  
 
Ryann Genest and Ariana Medchill (Pair 6) won in exhibition play with a two set win.
 
South Florida 3, No. 20 Tulane 2
 
South Florida earned its first ranked win and first Conference USA victory defeating the host Tulane.
Crudu and Panko (Pair 2) earned the opening point with a 21–18, 21–16 victory. Pasloski and Almeida (Pair 4) delivered another clinching performance, winning a marathon three-setter 21–15, 17–21, 20–18.
 
Stewart and Medchill (Pair 5) sealed the historic win with a 21–17, 18–21, 15–10 triumph on the final court.
 
Note-A-Bulls:
  • First Ranked Win — South Florida defeated No. 20 Tulane for its first win over a ranked opponent.
  • First Conference Victory — The Tulane dual marked USF's Conference USA debut and first win.
  • First Two-Win Day — The Bulls earned two dual victories Saturday.

About USF Beach Volleyball
The University of South Florida Beach Volleyball program is the newest program in the now 21-team USF Athletics program. South Florida Beach Volleyball joined Conference USA on July 1, 2025. Pri Piantadosi-Lima was named South Florida's first-ever beach volleyball head coach on June 6, 2023. She also serves as the head coach of USAV Beach and the national team development program and was honored as the 2022 USA Volleyball Female Junior Coach of the Year. Before joining South Florida, Piantadosi-Lima helped launch the Eckerd College program in 2015 as an assistant coach and helped lead the program to its first AVCA national championship and two consecutive NCAA championship podium finishes.
