Alex Wilkes Named American Player of the Week

Anne Long earned a spot on the American Conference Weekly Honorable Mention list

IRVING, Texas (February 23, 2026) – The American Conference announced its weekly softball accolades on Monday. South Florida's Alex Wilkes was named Player of the Week, while Anne Long earned a spot on the weekly honorable mention list after helping the Bulls post a 7-0 record for the week.
 
Wilkes set a South Florida record for the most consecutive games with a home run, with four. She posted a .409 batting average, producing nine hits for the week. She drove in 13 runs and scored nine. She added three doubles. Defensively, she recorded 10 putouts and 16 assists. 
 
Long was near perfect in her 13 innings for the week. She did not allow an earned run, posting an ERA of 0.00. She went 2-0 and added a save. For the week, she struck out nine batters.

The Bulls hit the road for the first time this season. USF heads to Tuscaloosa for the 2026 T-Mobile Crimson Classic. South Florida will play Kent State on Friday, February 27, at noon ET. South Florida will also play Alabama and St. Thomas over the weekend.

In 2022, Georgina Corrick became the first player in softball history to earn the NCAA Pitching Triple Crown. She led the nation in ERA (0.51), Victories (37), and total strikeouts (418).
