USF Softball Falls to Indiana

Alex Wilkes has reached base safely in nine consecutive games

TAMPA, Fla. (February 23, 2026) – The University of South Florida softball team returned to USF Softball Stadium on Monday for the final game of the USF Invitational against Indiana. The Bulls (15-5) fell to the Hoosiers (11-4) 11-1.
 
Alex Wilkes extended her streak of reaching base safely to nine games after walking today. Jamia Nelson, Lexi Beldowicz, Abbie DeWaters, and Toryn Fulton each added a hit for the Bulls. Nelson extended her hitting streak to three games. Alexa Galligani has reached base safely in four straight games, including a walk today.
 
How It Happened
The Hoosiers had their first two hitters reach on a single and a walk. Carley Ernst settled down and got the next batter to pop up to the first baseman. Ernst struck out the next two batters to end the inning.
 
Indiana got on the scoreboard in the top of the third inning. The Hoosiers scored two runs on two hits.
 
Fulton led off the bottom of the third with a triple to right-center. Galligani drew a walk, and Olivia Elliott was hit by a pitch to load the bases for USF. Wilkes drew a four-pitch walk and drove in an RBI as Fulton scored from third. The Bulls cut the deficit to 2-1 after three innings.
 
The Hoosiers had a big inning in the top of the fifth, scoring nine runs on seven hits. Indiana went on to win the game 11-1.
 
Ernst started in the circle and tossed four innings. She struck out three batters. She allowed three earned runs and fell to 1-2 on the season. Hannah Marien faced two batters and surrendered two earned runs. Amelia Jacob went 2/3 of an inning and allowed six earned runs. McKenna Schroding added 1/3 of an inning and struck out one.

Up Next
The Bulls hit the road for the first time this season. USF heads to Tuscaloosa for the 2026 T-Mobile Crimson Classic. South Florida will play Kent State on Friday, February 27, at noon ET. South Florida will also play Alabama and St. Thomas over the weekend.
