USF Beach Volleyball Splits Day One at Seminole Beach Bash

Bulls fall to FGCU before sweeping Tampa in Tallahassee

Tallahassee, Fla., February 27, 2026 – The University of South Florida beach volleyball team opened play Friday at the Seminole Beach Bash, falling to FGCU, 3–0, before sweeping the University of Tampa, 3–0, at the FSU Beach Volleyball Courts in Tallahassee, Fla.

South Florida 0, FGCU 3
 
The Eagles secured the dual by winning the first three completed courts in played-to-clinch format. Remaining matches were halted once the team result was decided.
 
Cornelia Crudu and Julia Panko (Pair 2) fell in straight sets as FGCU earned the opening point. Sasha Pasloski and Bella Almeida (Pair 4) dropped a three-set decision to give the Eagles the lead.
 
Abigail Lagemann and Morgan Anderson (Pair 3) fell in two sets as FGCU clinched the dual. Ryann Genest and Teresa Lajkebová (Pair 6) also fell in exhibition play.
 
Remaining matches halted:
Zoey Mitchell/Josie Sek, 19–21, 21–13, 7–2 (DNF)
Alyx Zapatka/Kate Stewart, 21–16, 10–21, 5–4 (DNF)

South Florida 3, Tampa 0
 
The Bulls secured the dual on the first three completed courts in played-to-decision format. Additional matches were halted once the team result was decided.

Teresa Lajkebová and Kate Stewart (Pair 5) followed with a 21–14, 21–13 win to give South Florida the lead. Abigail Lagemann and Morgan Anderson (Pair 3) clinched the dual for the Bulls with a 21–15, 21–18 victory. Alyx Zapatka and Addison Bounds (Pair 6) also earned a straight-set win in exhibition play.

Zoey Mitchell and Josie Sek (Pair 1)  22–24, 13–17 (DNF)
Sasha Pasloski and Isabella Almeida (Pair 4) 21–18, 17–21, 1–0 (DNF)
 
Note-A-Bulls:
  • Day One Split — South Florida finished 1–1 on the opening day of the Seminole Beach Bash.
  • Straight-Set Wins — The Bulls earned straight-set victories on Pairs 2, 3, and 5 in the win over Tampa.
  • Clinching Court — Pair 3 secured the match-deciding point for South Florida.
 
UP NEXT
South Florida continues the Seminole Beach Bash on Saturday, taking on the defending national champions, No. 7 TCU before advancing into crossover pool play. Based on tournament results, the Bulls could play a fourth and fifth dual against opponents from the opposite pool.

The University of South Florida Beach Volleyball program is the newest program in the now 21-team USF Athletics program. South Florida Beach Volleyball joined Conference USA on July 1, 2025. Pri Piantadosi-Lima was named South Florida's first-ever beach volleyball head coach on June 6, 2023. She also serves as the head coach of USAV Beach and the national team development program and was honored as the 2022 USA Volleyball Female Junior Coach of the Year. Before joining South Florida, Piantadosi-Lima helped launch the Eckerd College program in 2015 as an assistant coach and helped lead the program to its first AVCA national championship and two consecutive NCAA championship podium finishes.
