TAMPA, Fla. (February 6, 2026) – The University of South Florida softball team was back in action on day two of the USF Rawlings Invitational against Michigan on Friday. The Bulls (0-2) fell to the Wolverines (2-0) by a 4-0 score.
Kathy Garcia-Soto and
Jamia Nelson each recorded for the Bulls. Garcia-Soto and Nelson extended their hitting streaks to two games.

Abbie DeWaters, and Garcia-Soto drew walks.
Michigan scored first with a run in the top of the first inning. The Wolverines added two unearned runs in the top of the second inning. Michigan added a run in the top of the fifth on a solo home run by Lauren Putz.
Anne Long got the start in the circle for USF. She pitched three innings and struck out two batters. She surrendered three runs, with only one earned.
Carley Ernst closed out the game, going four innings. She recorded a season-high six strikeouts and allowed one earned run.
Erin Hoehn led the Wolverines with a 3-for-4 performance. Putz recorded a game-high two RBIs. Hoehn started the game in the circle and threw a complete-game shutout, striking out 11 batters.

The Bulls return to action on day three of the USF Rawlings Invitational on Friday. South Florida faces Kansas at 2 p.m. and Bethune-Cookman at 7 p.m. Both games will be on ESPN+.
