USF Beach Volleyball Heads to Atlanta for Weekend Showdown

South Florida will face Mercer, Georgia State, North Alabama, and UAB

TAMPA, Fla., April 2, 2026 –South Florida beach volleyball hits the road this weekend, traveling to Atlanta to compete in the GSU Diggin' Duals tournament hosted by Georgia State University. The two-day tournament set for Friday, April 3rd and Saturday April 4th features Mercer University, North Alabama, University of Alabama at Birmingham, and host Georgia State. 
 
Setting the Stage
South Florida is coming off a 3-1 weekend, picking up two conference victories against UTEP and Sam Houston in their first home match of the season. The Bulls open the tournament Friday, April 2 at 8:30am against Mercer before taking on host Georgia state at 3:00pm. Action continues Saturday as South Florida faces North Alabama at 8:00am and UAB at 2:30pm to close out the weekend. 
 
Opponents
Mercer enters the weekend with a 4-16 record, most recently competing against Southern Miss, College of Charleston, UNC Wilmington, and Coastal Carolina. Georgia State sits at 12-12 on the season following recent matchups with UNC Wilmington, Coastal Carolina, ULM, and Charleston.
 
North Alabama holds a 13-9 record and is coming off a 4-0 weekend with wins over Spring Hill College, EKU, Tusculum, and Austin Peay. UAB, whom the Bulls faced last weekend enters at 16-9, after a 4-0 weekend at the Stampede Beach Opener. 
 
Match Format
Each dual features five pairs competing simultaneously. USF's Pair 1 faces the opponent's Pair 1, Pair 2 vs. Pair 2, and so on through Pair 5. Each pair plays a match, and the team that wins at least three of the five pair matchups earns the program win.

Friday, Apr. 3
vs. Mercer– 8:30 a.m. 
vs. Georgia State–3:00 p.m.
 
Saturday, Apr.4
vs. North Alabama 8:00 a.m. 
vs. University Alabama at Birmingham -2:30 p.m.


Note-A-Bulls:
  • Hot Streak: Kate Stewart and Tereza Lajkebová are on an 11-game win streak as a pair. 
  • Bulls Hold Strong at No.2 in Conference Rankings: South Florida sits second in the Conference USA standings midway through the season.
  • Bulls Aim to Bounce Back Against UAB: The Bulls fell to UAB 4-1 last weekend in a hard-fought matchup, but they're back on the sand this weekend for a rematch. USF is looking to to bounce back and come away with the win.

About USF Beach Volleyball
The University of South Florida Beach Volleyball program is the newest program in the now 21-team USF Athletics program. South Florida Beach Volleyball joined Conference USA on July 1, 2025. Pri Piantadosi-Lima was named South Florida's first-ever beach volleyball head coach on June 6, 2023. She also serves as the head coach of USAV Beach and the national team development program and was honored as the 2022 USA Volleyball Female Junior Coach of the Year. Before joining South Florida, Piantadosi-Lima helped launch the Eckerd College program in 2015 as an assistant coach and helped lead the program to its first AVCA national championship and two consecutive NCAA championship podium finishes.
