Alexa Galligani Accounts for All Five Runs in USF Softball’s 5-0 Win Over UAB

Alexa Galligani launches her fourth home run of the season

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (April 22, 2026) – Alexa Galligani recorded a career-high four RBIs on Friday for the University of South Florida softball team. The Bulls (35-15, 16-6 American) got another complete game from Anne Long in a 5-0 victory over the Blazers (20-28, 7-15 American). 
 
South Florida and Wichita State remain tied atop the conference standings after today's games.  
 
Galligani finished the game with two hits, including a double and a home run. She was involved in all five Bulls runs, recording a career-high four RBIs and two runs scored. Kathy Garcia-Soto went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored. Anne Long tossed her ninth complete game in conference play, improving to 15-5 in the circle. It was her second conference shutout. She struck out four batters and scattered three hits. 
 
How It Happened
Kiley Strott laid down a perfect bunt for a single to lead off the top of the third inning for the Bulls. Strott advanced to second on a wild pitch and to third on a groundout to second by Elliott. Garcia-Soto reached on a single to third and then advanced to second as Strott was caught in a rundown. With two out and a runner on second, Galligani blasted her fourth home run of the season. South Florida took a 2-0 lead into the fourth inning.
 
Jamia Nelson led off the top of the fifth with a single through the left side. Grace Rawn entered the game to run for Nelson. Strott grounded out to third, moving Rawn into scoring position. Elliott grounded out to first, moving Rawn to third. Garcia-Soto was hit by a pitch, putting runners on the corners for USF. Galligani drove in two more runs with a double to right center. After an Alex Wilkes single, Galligani scored on a wild pitch. USF held a 5-0 lead after five innings.

Anne Long tossed her ninth complete game in conference play, improving to 15-5 in the circle. It was her second shutout in conference games.
• The Bulls remain undefeated at 28-0 when they lead after five innings.
• USF moves to 25-3 when it holds opponents to fewer than two runs.
• The Bulls improve to 33-2 when they score at least three runs.
• South Florida is 12-1 when it hits a home run.
