TAMPA, Fla. (May 1, 2026) – For the second straight game, the University of South Florida softball team walked off North Texas at USF Softball Stadium.
Kiley Strott was the hero, delivering the walk-off single. The Bulls (39-15, 20-6 American) secured a series victory over the Mean Green (27-26, 14-12 American) with a 2-1 win on Friday.
South Florida currently holds a half-game lead for first place. Wichita State is in the middle of its game against Memphis. If Wichita State wins, South Florida will be tied for first. If Memphis wins, South Florida will have secured at least a share of the American Conference regular-season title.
Strott led the Bulls with a two-hit game and delivered the walk-off hit.
Karhys Pierce recorded a hit, extended her hitting streak to seven games, and reached base safely in eight straight.
Alex Wilkes collected a hit and extended her hitting streak to six games.
Toryn Fulton drew a walk and has reached base safely in six straight games.
Carley Ernst started the game for the Bulls in the circle and went six innings. She struck out five batters and allowed one run on five hits.
Anne Long earned the win with an inning of relief and moved to 18-5 on the season. She gave up two hits.
How It Happened
Strott opened the bottom of the third with a one-out single. Fulton reached on a fielder's choice and stole second. Elliott drove in the game's first run with a single to center. USF took a 1-0 lead into the fourth.
Riley McNemar led off the top of the seventh with a solo home run for the Mean Green, tying the game at 1-1.
Wilkes drew a six-pitch walk to lead off the bottom of the seventh for the Bulls. Pierce reached safely on a fielder's choice.
Cali Chapman pinch ran for Pierce. Brooks singled to right field, putting USF runners on first and second with one out.
Jamia Nelson reached safely on a fielder's choice to the shortstop. With the count full and two outs, Strott delivered the walk-off victory for the Bulls with an RBI single down the third baseline. USF claimed a 2-1 victory.
