TAMPA, Fla. (May 13, 2026) – South Florida baseball welcomes Wichita State for the final three-game conference series of the regular season. The Bulls (30-20, 9-15 American) take on the Shockers (27-25, 11-13 American), who are currently No. 7 in the conference standings.
Game 1 of the series on Thursday, May 14, will feature Throwback Thursday. Old photos of players will be shown on the videoboard, and fans can enjoy a blast from the past with retro music and sound effects throughout the game.
Saturday's finale will also serve as the Bulls' final game of the regular season on May 16. The Bulls will celebrate Senior Day with a special pregame ceremony featuring family and friends.
Setting The Stage:
South Florida fell on the road in a three-game conference series to Tulane in New Orleans over the weekend. Tulane sits ninth in the American standings at 10-14 in conference play and holds the tiebreaker over the Bulls. The Charlotte 49ers are No. 8 in the conference at 10-14 and hold the tiebreaker with South Florida.
Wichita State is currently No. 7 in the American and is coming off a home series loss to Florida Atlantic, falling 2-1. All four teams will be battling for tournament positioning this weekend. The top eight teams in the conference standings qualify for the American Conference Tournament.
Series History:
South Florida leads the all-time series between these two squads 15-13-1 and is 6-3 at home in Tampa. Last year, the Bulls traveled to Kansas for a regular-season series and defeated Wichita State 2-1. The Bulls then defeated the Shockers in the American Conference Tournament almost a month later, eliminating them. The last time the two teams faced each other in Tampa was in 2024, when South Florida swept the series 3-0.

- Nathan Earley received an Honorable Mention for Conference Player of the Week.
- Earley went 9-for-15 with four doubles, two homers, nine RBIs, seven runs, and stole a base.
- Jevin Relaford has 30 stolen bases on the year and is now tied for seventh all-time in stolen bases in a single season, the most for a Bull since 1996.
- Ethan Sutton has nine saves on the season and is on the NCBWA Midseason Stopper of the Year Watch List.
- Relaford is currently on a 19-game reached-base streak in conference games.
- South Florida leads the conference in fielding percentage (.977) and WHIP (1.36).
- The Bulls swept the last series against the Shockers in Tampa in 2024.

Head coach Mitch Hannahs returns for his second year at the helm after leading the Bulls to 32 wins in his debut season—the program's highest win total since 2018. USF also posted 16 victories in American Athletic Conference play, marking its best conference showing since joining the league.
Hannahs, a 2023 ABCA NCAA Division I Midwest Region Coach of the Year, was named USF's eighth head coach on June 8, 2024, after an 11-year run at Indiana State, where he tallied 355 wins, six conference titles, and five NCAA Regional appearances.
USF has made 14 NCAA Tournament appearances, including a historic Super Regional berth in 2021. The Bulls have captured five conference tournament titles (three Sun Belt, one Metro, one American) and six regular season championships (three Sun Belt, two Metro, one C-USA).
The program continues to develop top-tier talent with 134 MLB Draft picks all-time, including three selections in 2025. Notable alumni include two-time MLB All-Star and 2018 first-round draft pick Shane McClanahan. Bulls have earned All-America honors 12 times and Freshman All-America recognition 19 times.
