The Bulls look to even the all-time series at 16-16-5 on Friday night at Corbett Stadium
TAMPA, Fla. (September 28, 2026) – South Florida men's soccer returns to Corbett Stadium on Friday night to host FIU in an American Conference match.
The Bulls (1-7-1, 0-2-1 American) look to get back in the win column against the Panthers, with first kick set for 7 p.m. ET.
Setting the Stage
South Florida is coming off a 3-2 loss at No. 9 Missouri State on Saturday night. After a scoreless first half, the Bears scored twice in just under four minutes to take a 2-0 lead, but the Bulls did not go away. After Missouri State restored its two-goal cushion in the 80th minute, Serigne Diallo pulled USF back within one in the 85th minute, redirecting a Richardson feed into the bottom left corner for his first goal of the season. The Bulls pushed late, but their comeback efforts fell just short.
FIU, meanwhile, heads to Florida Gulf Coast Tuesday night looking for their first road win of the season. Forward Santi Possu leads the team with six goals and has scored in three straight matches, converting a 73rd-minute penalty kick to beat Drake, 1-0, on September 19 and scoring both goals in a 2-2 draw with Memphis on Friday.

FIU leads the all-time series 16-15-5, but a South Florida win on Friday would even the ledger at 16-16-5. The Bulls have won the last two meetings, including a 2-1 victory in Miami on October 12, 2025, in which USF led 2-0 at halftime, and a 1-0 win in Tampa on September 20, 2024.

About South Florida Men's Soccer
The oldest varsity athletic program at South Florida, men's soccer competed in the school's first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3.
The Bulls have claimed 14 conference championships and made 22 NCAA Tournament appearances, including three trips to the Elite Eight. The program boasts 31 MLS draft picks, including two-time MLS Golden Boot winner Jeff Cunningham, 1994 World Cup Team USA star Roy Wegerle, and 2013 MLS Cup winner Dom Dwyer. Three men's soccer alumni and one coach have been inducted into the South Florida Athletics Hall of Fame: Fergus Hopper, Jeff Attinella, Jeff Cunningham & Dan Holcomb.
On Dec. 10, 2025, head coach George Kiefer was hired for his second tenure at South Florida. Kiefer previously led the Bulls from 2002-16, compiling one of the most successful stretches in program history as the Bulls went 162-86-51 (.627), earned four conference championships, and made 10 NCAA Tournament appearances. Under Kiefer, South Florida advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2008 and 2011. His six NCAA Tournament victories remain the most in program history, and his win total ranks second all-time among South Florida head coaches.
