Lane Miller from Boonville, Indiana comes to USF following a career at Indiana State where Lane was a part of two NCAA Regionals, One NCAA Super Regional, One Conference Championship, and One Conference Tournament Championship. Lane played under current USF head coach Mitch Hannahs for 4 seasons, and alongside Director of Player Development Jordan Schaffer for 3 seasons. Lane Graduated from Indiana state with a degree in Health and Human Services Sports Management and a minor in Sports Leadership. Following his playing career, he played professionally with the Trenton Thunder. 

In 2023, Miller emerged as one of college baseball’s top breakout stories, earning ABCA/Rawlings All-Midwest Region First Team honors, MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the 2022–23 MVC State Farm Good Neighbor Award, and MVC All-Conference Second Team recognition. After beginning the season as a player/coach, Miller worked his way into the weekend rotation and became the Sycamores’ go-to Sunday starter during conference play. He finished the year with a perfect 7-0 record and a 2.77 ERA across 61.2 innings, holding opponents to a .219 batting average while posting 38 strikeouts against just 14 walks. Indiana State won all 11 games Miller started, highlighted by dominant performances against Purdue, UIC, Belmont, Southern Illinois, Missouri State, and Evansville, including a career-high six strikeouts in the MVC Tournament. He also earned the start in the NCAA Regional title game against Iowa, cementing his role as a key contributor during one of the program’s most successful seasons.  

Over Lanes playing career, He poster a career 4.07 ERA in 79.2 innings walking 24 and striking out 54. He held batters to a .252 average. 

Lane has a background in day-to-day pitching development, defensive side of pitching, trackman and reporting, as well as pitch shaping.
