Tony Cordova is the associate athletic director for athletic medicine for South Florida.
Cordova brings more than two decades of experience as a certified athletic trainer, including 14 years at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where he served as associate director of sports medicine and head athletic trainer for the football program. In that role, he oversaw medical services and served as the designated athletics health care administrator.
Prior to his time at UTEP, Cordova spent six seasons (2000–06) as an athletic trainer in the minor league system with the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. He worked at multiple levels, including Triple-A, and was named the Pacific Coast League Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2006.
Cordova has also served as a medical volunteer with the United States Olympic Committee, working with USA Taekwondo at regional and international events, including the 2011 Pan American Games.
A native of El Paso, Texas, Cordova earned his bachelor’s degree from UTEP and a master’s degree from the University of New Mexico. He and his wife, Allison, have two daughters, Maris and Brooklyn.
